Functional Corrective Movement Therapy
-
Have you ever seen a toddler squat? It is amazing how instinctively they are able to squat, with little to no effort. As children become adults they lose the ability to do the things they were able to do when they were young. Why? As we get older, many activities of daily living forces us to learn improper movement patterns. This creates muscle imbalances that affect our innate movement quality in the sagittal, frontal, and transverse planes. FCM Therapy is personal training using my style of training that incorporates physical therapy rehabilitation with traditional exercises in a dynamic movement pattern to not only increase muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance, balance, joint mobility and power, but also to restore innate movement patterns.
-
1. Cognitively stimulating—The movements are dynamic with natural flows that are ever changing that is both stimulating to the mind and body.
2. Fun means results–The more you enjoy a task, the more likelihood that you will stick to it, resulting in better fitness and health outcomes.
3. Functional Strength—Traditional movements in the exercise world are push and pull in only one plane of movement. Instead of making you stronger, it may actually be making you weaker, by creating imbalances. Functional strength gains are made with movements that are multi-planed and flows through multiple joint angles, creating usable functional strength that translate to an increase in sports performance.
3. Increase Cardiovascular Fitness—Once you master the basics of FCM Therapy, we will gradually increase the duration of time you spend performing the movements, which will increase your metabolic demands, systematically increasing your cardiovascular fitness.
4. Increase Mobility and Flexibility— Flexibility and mobility is the cornerstone of FCM Therapy. Many injuries happen in athletes due lack of flexibility or joint mobility. FCM Therapy will restore your flexibility and joint mobility by moving your muscles and joints through its full range of movement, stretching and contracting your muscles in ways that your inner child would be proud of.

No, equipment is optional in functional corrective movement therapy. Before adding resistance you will first learn foundational movement patterns using only your body weight. After you have successfully dug a foundation worthy of being built upon and depending on your goals, we will then add resistance equipment such as exercise bands, dumbbells, kettlebells, mace, Indian clubs , suspension training equipment.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS
1. The process starts with a conversation or video chat where we get to know each other and discuss your goals, injury history, past training history, nutrition.
2. From there, I will put together 2-5 day a week personalized program designed through a training App.
3. I also ask that you send me videos of your training so I can make sure you’re doing everything correctly, especially on new exercises that you haven’t done before.
4. After the initial few weeks of ironing out the kinks and setting up foundations, we do regular check-ins to make sure you’re progressing properly and your training stays fresh and optimal.

Online In person Training
Online In-person training is similar to traditional In-person training but over a live zoom call. This is for those who benefit from a more visual approach to training but are unable to meet for a regular in person session. To perform online sessions, you will need a stable internet connection, laptop or computer and optional workout equipment.

Exercise Program Design
Exercise program design with coaching is for people who want to train with me but aren’t able to do so in-person. This program is great for people who are highly motivated, but need direction. I will design a monthly workout program that is delivered on a APP. You will still receive many of the benefits of in person coaching due to our frequent interactions.
